How is the course structured?

Each day offers a relaxed balance of a bit of classroom learning and plenty of time outdoors, observing, experimenting, and getting our hands mucky.

On Saturday we begin by exploring the beauty and value of biodiversity, focusing on why supporting nature at any scale matters. This is followed by a guided walk around the land at Common Knowledge, where participants will experience a wide range of habitats and learn how small changes can support life. In the afternoon, we explore a range of practical habitat creation methods and take part in a hands on session focused on managing invasive species safely.

On Sunday we spend the morning outdoors with pollinator friendly planting, plant identification, simple surveying, and wildflower meadow maintenance. We also look at solutions to alternatives to pesticides and herbicides. In the afternoon, we move indoors to reflect, get creative, and develop a simple, achievable plan for increasing biodiversity in your own space, shaped by what you have learned over the weekend.

Many people find this way of working with land grounding, restorative, and deeply rewarding.
