  • Erin McClure

    Co-founder, Creative Director

    Erin is a visual communicator, specializing in sustainable design solutions for socially responsible brands and initiatives. With a background in textile design, Erin also runs Caravanseri, a slow living design studio focused on working with industry waste streams and natural, sustainable materials. She is particularly motivated by an interest in plant dyes, earth pigments and natural paints and plasters. She teaches spatial design and natural wool workshops at Common Knowledge.

  • Fionn Kidney

    Co-founder and Co-CEO

    Fionn has been dedicated on building momentum for new projects with social impact across the non-profit, public and corporate sectors for the past 15 years. At Common Knowledge, his focus is on the creation of an inclusive, trustworthy and regenerative organisation, through his experience in project management, strategic development, governance and marketing. Fionn has held leadership roles at Science Gallery International and Accenture’s Global Innovation Centre, he has also served as a member of several cultural and non-profit boards, and is currently Chairperson of Inishturk Community Club CLG, a charitable social enterprise managing community development for one of Ireland’s most remote islands.

  • Harrison Gardner

    Co-founder & Co-CEO

    Harrison is an Australian eco-builder and sustainability designer living in Clare. He has 15 years experience designing and managing the construction of conventional and passive buildings worldwide. His current focus is teaching hopeful homeowners the core construction skills, principles and techniques needed to build more efficient, sustainable structures. He recently hosted ‘Build Your Own’, a series broadcast on RTE1 to accompany his book by the same title, released in October 2022.

  • Cian Corcoran

    Build School + Furniture Design Instructor

    Cian is a designer, maker and co-founder of Designgoat Studio. Most of his studio days are filled with designing interiors for private and commercial clients. Other days are spent designing and fabricating bespoke pieces to fit into said interiors. He is also interested in horticulture, building and self-sufficiency.

  • Féidhlim Harty

    Build School Alternative Wastewater Instructor

    Féidhlim is an environmental consultant, teacher and author. His company, FH Wetland Systems, established in 1996, offers designs and guidance on waterway repair and rewilding, eco-friendly wastewater treatment, and holistic landuse management for catchment protection and regeneration.

  • Dominic Keogh

    Vernacular Building Instructor

    Dominic Keogh is a master stonemason who originates from East Mayo where he began experimenting with local dry stone building techniques, gaining knowledge from older farmers in the Kilmovee area. Dominic’s passion for dry stone walling gave him a thirst for knowledge in all aspects of stonework, and his love of vernacular buildings led him into historical conservation, training in architectural, monumental masonry and letter cutting, and lime mortars to conserve and restore everything from humble cottages, to grand tower houses.

    Harrison is an Australian eco-builder and sustainability designer. He has 15 years experience designing and managing the construction of conventional and passive buildings worldwide. His current focus is on constructing community spaces whilst teaching the core construction skills, principles and techniques needed to build more efficient, sustainable structures.

  • Jordan Allen

    Instructor

    Jordan is qualified electrician with 20 years experience between the Commercial/Industrial and Domestic sector, having worked on commercial wind energy projects and has a keen interest in renewable and sustainable energy sources. I am currently involved in various electrical projects. Having grown up in a family of sustainability where everything was repaired or built from scratch I have learned many different practical skills throughout my life thus helping me attain in certain ways of self- sufficiency. I'm living in west Clare in a home I built myself.

  • Mollie Anna King

    Clay + Cement Tile Instructor

    Mollie is an artist and maker whose practice encompasses material experimentation, circular economy and self building. After completing a B.A and M.F.A in sculpture, she worked with Assemble Architects, Canice Architects and several student groups on design/build projects. She has taken part in The Centre for Alternative Technology’s ‘How to Build a Tiny House’, Design West’s Architecture Summer School, AA School Dorset's Build Weeks and completed a 6 month Residency in LSAD's Ceramic Department. Mollie has run workshops for a variety of companies, such as SPAB Ireland and Youth Ecology Art. Mollie also works as a technician and fabricator for individual and collaborative projects.

  • Nico Bigatti

    Build School + Furniture Design Instructor

    Nico’s first working experience after college was with a small carpentry business in Italy. Tired and a bit bored of the rural Italian lifestyle, and ‘triggered by a certain ferment, and the power of youth’ he moved to Dublin. When not with us, Nico teaches carpentry and furniture making at Solas, a social enterprise that aims to equip young people with skills and knowledge that will empower them to fulfill their personal potential.

  • Shantanu Starick

    Build School Level 2 Instructor

    A freelance international photographer, Shantanu is in constant motion between Europe and Asia Pacific. His curious approach to photography has allowed him to find insights and stories that explore the boundaries of human connection and behaviour, particularly in the design and built environments.

  • Spider Hickman

    Build School Instructor + Program Director

    Originally studying Architecture and Spatial Design, Spider went on to work in Contemporary Art, closely working with artists and fabricators in production and display.
    Following this, she worked in Residential Development, and rediscovered her love of making and designing, and found herself in her happy place back on a building site, this time with tools in hand.

    She is passionate about innovation and research in new and eco-friendly material options.

  • Gavin Morgan

    Instructor

    Gavin is a metal fabricator. carpenter and designer who has worked in film, TV , theatre and large outdoor spectacle for the last 35 years. He has worked as head of construction for Macnas theatre company, Solas studio and St Patricks Festival, as well as maker for many other companies such as Druid Theatre and The National Opera of Ireland. He has taken time out from theatre to spend the last 2 years restoring and building his own home in Ennistymon and we’re thrilled to have him with us to share his skills this year.

  • Ciara Parsons

    Instructor

    Ciara is a qualified Horticultural Therapist and Permaculturist from the west of Ireland.

    She began her gardening and growing journey studying Sustainable Horticulture and Permaculture.

    She then went on to study Social and Therapeutic Horticulture. Learning about the myriad of health and well-being benefits of nature connection has emboldened her to continue to work with both people, and the land through nature based therapy and retreats, permaculture and garden design.

  • Malú Colorín

    Natural Dye Instructor

    Malú is a Wicklow-based designer and natural dyer from Mexico. She is CEO of design label Talu Earth and is a founding member of Fibreshed Ireland.

    In 2018 she began her experimentations and research into natural dyes. She has studied with master dyers in Mexico, Ireland, the US and Japan.
